Bookings for Mahindra XUV300 are now officially open at dealerships and online as well for Rs 20,000. XUV300 is by far the best attempt by Mahindra to capture the fast growing compact SUV segment dominated by the likes of Maruti Brezza and Tata Nexon.
New Mahindra XUV300 has the potential to emerge as a globally-relevant vehicle, as it is based on X100 platform of hugely successful SsangYong Tivoli. Sold in more than 50+ countries, Tivoli has registered global sales in excess of 2.6 lakh units since its launch.
Mahindra XUV300 has sporty, cheetah-inspired exteriors, similar to XUV500. It makes a dominating stance and is sure to turn heads on the roads. Its design is bold and flamboyant, which will appeal to the young at heart. Key exterior features include funky headlamps, LED DRLs, chrome accents, Mahindra’s signature vertical grille, stylish split LED tail lamps, and sporty 17-inch diamond cut alloys. XUV300 also gets roof rails, roof mounted spoiler and rear wash wiper.
Interiors have a premium look and feel with dual-tone colour scheme, luxe leather upholstery, stylish dashboard, wing-shaped instrument panel, and large touchscreen infotainment system. Customers can expect spacious and comfortable interiors, as XUV300 has the longest wheelbase in its segment globally. The extra space will allow easy ingress and egress and ensure ample legroom for front and rear passengers
2019 XUV300 will be offered in petrol and diesel variants at the time of launch. Petrol variant will be powered by a 1.2 litre engine that delivers 200 Nm torque. Diesel variant will have a 1.5 litre engine capable of delivering 300 Nm torque. Power rating has not been revealed, but it is likely to be around 125 HP for both. Petrol and diesel engine will be coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission, as seen on Marazzo.
Mahindra XUV300 will offer segment-first 7-airbags and first-in-class hi-tech features like sunroof, front parking sensors and Dual-Zone Fully Automatic Climate Control. Features that will be standard across all variants include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, disc brakes on all four wheels, reverse parking sensors, and power windows.
Mahindra seems to have done everything right with XUV300 to successfully compete with rivals in the compact SUV space. XUV300’s long list of features justifies its Rs 8-12 lakh price range, which is higher than Brezza and Nexon, the two best-selling cars in the segment as of today
