Vivo announced working on a phone with the codename "The Waterdrop". As some rumours guessed it, the phone was indeed APEX. On Friday, Vivo sent out a press invite for a launch event scheduled for Jan 24 to launch the successor to last year's APEX. The new phone will be called APEX 2019, Vivo has confirmed. Like last year's APEX, the upcoming APEX 2019 is also expected to be a concept phone.
Vivo is yet to reveal details about the Vivo APEX 2019, but the media invite reveals the silhouette of the phone and it's all curvy from every side. Rumours, in fact, reveal that the Vivo APEX 2019 will not come with cut outs or ports like every other smartphone these days. The upcoming Vivo APEX 2019 is said to come with pressure-sensitive and gesture-based navigation.
Besides the curved design, the Vivo APEX 2019 is expected to come without notches. Most smartphone makers are moving from tradition notches to waterdrop notch in order to reduce the bezels on the sides of the phones, but Vivo is taking a step ahead. The Vivo APEX 2019 is rumoured to not come with any notch. Despite no notch, the Vivo APEX is said to have no bezels at any sides. Rumours also suggest that the Vivo phone will not include any kind of physical buttons like power key, volume rocker or any other.
Another highlight of the Vivo APEX 2019 is the in-display fingerprint sensor. To recollect, the Vivo APEX was among the first smartphones to come with half-screen fingerprint sensor last year, and now the successor to the phone -- Vivo APEX 2019 is expected to come with sixth-generation in-display fingerprint sensor. Vivo says that its sixth-generation in-display fingerprint sensor covers a bigger area and is also improved and more accurate than the previous generation sensor. Notably, Vivo is yet to reveal official details about the APEX 2019 but what the company has already confirmed is that the smartphone will come packed with several futuristic technologies.
